FAMILY SANTA COMES DOWN THE CHIMNEY ON NEW YEAR'S EVE? You can see in the pictures above that in the 1800's Santa was not commonly portrayed as a plump jolly guy. The guy in the article on top has a pipe, but no beard. Possibly the four Santa Claus' above us were retired Civil War generals? You can see the old articles about New Year's Eve as being when cookies were laid out and Santa went down the chimney on New Year's Eve.
