Can DNA Predict Fishing?
I find it most amazing when I am able through DNA and investigation to find someone’s birth parents to see how their ancestor’s DNA shows up in their choice of careers and their areas of interest.
One of my client’s that loves to fish only had one picture of their father, and one picture of their grandfather, who they didn’t know much about. Of course, both of those pictures had them posing with a fish they had caught.
Even better as I worked their line (pun intended), I found out that one of their ancestors was Benjamin Cave Milam, who was not only a Mexican War hero, he was a jeweler, watchmaker and the manufacturer of highly coveted fishing reels marked as the “Frankfort, Kentucky reel” and the “B.C. Milam reel”. These reels were used by three presidents of the United States, Grover Cleveland, William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt.

Does Vanity Cause Us to be More Susceptible to Viruses?
There are lots of recommendations being made today about washing our hands, not touching our face, and now wearing facemasks in public. If you go back in time, people didn’t use to pluck or even trim their nose hairs, besides not being as concerned about appearances as we are today, it was also because they knew that they served a purpose when you were trying to prevent dust and even disease from entering your respiratory tract.
Now, no one is saying you should be Rosannadanna and consider braiding your nose hair, but for the time being it might be better to trim rather than pluck your nose hairs.

Using DNA to Find Our Ancestors Final Resting Place!
Anonymous no more: combining genetics with genealogy to identify the dead in unmarked graves.
In Quebec, gravestones did not come into common use until the second half of the 19th century, so historical cemeteries contain many unmarked graves. Inspired by colleagues at Barcelona’s Pompeu Fabra University, a team of researchers in genetics, archaeology, and demography from three Quebec universities conducted a study in which they combined genealogical information from BALSAC (a Quebec that is the only one of its kind in the world) with genetic information from more than 960 modern Quebecers in order to access the genetic profile of Quebec’s historical population.
