I met Dan Nelson a few years back when I saw a genealogy book he’d put together for a good friend of mine. I was so blown away by the thoroughness and details he’d captured that I had to have one. Dan worked closely with me to create a family history book of both sides of my parents. The books span multiple generations and bring tears to my eyes each time I look At them. Having read many books and having had a fascination about the Salem Witch Trials of the 1600s, you can’t imagine how pleasantly surprised I was to learn that my ninth great grandmother, Rebekah Ames was actually convicted and imprisoned at these very trials. I highly recommend Dan Nelson and his Dancestor books for everyone. It was an amazing journey for me and one I will proudly hand down to my children and their children.

How much do you know about your family tree? Many of us know very little about our family history. Some of us have spit into the tube that comes with the DNA tests that you can send away and get your DNA by mail, and others of us are scared to give their DNA to a third party company. Dan Nelson, a genealogist, and historian joins Live Your True Life Perspective to discuss researching family history and the business of finding other people’s roots. Throughout the show, Dan shares some amazing stories of finding famous ancestor connections, some of the interesting family ties he has researched and uncovered. Finding out about your family history is like finding that antique in the attic you never knew you had, join the fun and excitement by listening to Dan’s true-life stories.
I have a mother who is in her late 90s now and for her 95th birthday what do you get a mother for their 95th birthday...So I went through lots of pictures and gave Dan everything that I knew, fortunately, my mom was still able to give me some information we put together this book, it took a few months, lots of pictures in it which my mom absolutely loves. Gave her this book and here we are three years later and she looks at it every single day and she still thinks when she looks at it she learns something new because it's pretty extensive and she's able to sort of relive parts of her life that she doesn't have a lot of people around anymore to discuss with. Andrea and Dan are great to work with, they helped me tremendously with the photos I am a non-technical person and I thought this was going to be way more difficult than it was they made it easy and I definitely recommend this is a wonderful gift or addition to your family.

I can't recommend enough how valuable this has been to me and my family. On Sunday I reviewed with my mom, my mom's ninety years old, we went through my dad's book and and she was just overwhelmed and she had already gone through the book on her side of the family with my sister and I can tell you there were a lot of tears a lot of joy and a lot of discovery of the things she kind of knew but had didn't quite pieced together and the amount of information... I never believed this much would be available. So I recommend anybody considering it or has any interest at all in their heritage, Dan does a phenomenal job and the end product is timeless it's not only here in a hardcopy which my mom appreciates we also have a digital format.

I'm absolutely convinced that Dan Nelson was put on this earth to do what he's doing so you know this book is a hundred and fifty plus pages long, it is filled with maps and all sorts of detail that's absolutely incredible. I would call it both priceless and timeless.
- Todd Whitthorne
It's really really cool to get to see this stuff and for Dan he's combed through all of these things and finds out all this information that you know we would have never been able to find out any other way. So I highly recommend Dan and Dancestors and if you're even a little bit interested in your family history then give Dan a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed, thank you.

I was one of Dan's first clients at Dancestors and with the last time Ott we were brought up to believe our ancestors came from Germany with Dan's help we realized that we weren't German at all but our name was Oats originally and we came from Cornwall England and some others from France the Netherlands and even Ireland. Dan did a great job, I would encourage you to take a look at his work and see for yourself, thanks.
- Nicky Ott
I had him take both my parents and our genealogy back well into the 1700s and it was some amazing
information Dan was able to discern the descendants of pastors, some generals during the Civil War, as well as some tobacco farmers, and so great to see how all these pieces are put together and what they mean and what a difference they made for my family. So if you need a recommendation for Dan I would tell you that he'd be an amazing job thank you.
